Russian hackers obtained access to voter Databases in two Florida counties before the 2016 presidential election, Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis said in a news conference Tuesday.
They didn't control any data, and the election results weren't compromised. DeSantis and officials in the Florida Department of Law Enforcement were briefed by the FBI and Department of Homeland Security on Friday.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRy_fXj8svE
The governor said he signed a deal with the FBI not to disclose the names of the counties, but elections officials from those counties understand the intrusions.
"We are trying to figure out what the state knew at the time," DeSantis said. "Obviously, the last administration and the mind of FDLE didn't have that info."
He explained the hackers obtained access through a spearfishing email following an employee clicked on a link.
